PRAYER WHEEL – In Tibetan Buddhism, Prayer Wheels or Mani are used to spread spiritual blessings and well being. The wheels contain rolls of thin paper imprinted with many copies of the Buddhist Prayer or mantra. Therefore, as the wheel is spun the blessings or mantra are spread out with the wind.
This particular image hails from a remote region of China, Jiuzhaigou, which was witness to a very strong Tibetan influence. Today, Jiuzhaigou is considered a national treasure with its pristine wilderness landscape.
