Throughout my travels, my lens often migrates toward the flowers found there.  What draws my attention is often the contrast provided between a dusty walkway and the vibrant colours of an orchid, or, seemingly simplicity of the pattern of a lush tropical leaf.

WATER LILY – Found around the globe, with varieties common to tropical regions and hardier ones located in colder climes, the botanical name for the water lily – Nymphaea – is derived from the Greek nymphe or water spirit.  Over the centuries, the water lily has often been associated with purity of heart, as it grows from the depths of muddy ponds to present a pure, magnificent flower.
This particular water lily was found in southwestern China at the Jinhong Horticultural Park in the region of Xishuangbanna.
